Minutes to 8/8 Board Meeting

Beddington Lake East Road Maintenance Association
Board Meeting Minutes
On-Site Road Review and Documentation

Beddington, ME
8-8-2009, 9:00 am

In attendance: Peter, Jean, Marty

Agenda

1) Walk, observe and document (photograph) roads serving 5 or more lots, for future discussion of road maintenance and clarifying BLERMA policy per the annual 2009 meeting.

Overall Observation: Most of the road are in need of trimming around the power lines. Marty LaMarche will call Bangor Hydro.

Govang’s Gulch
Serves 7 lots. Road has a right of way crossing a privately owned lot. It is the road that is gated: Question does this impact road maintenance favorably. Ongoing maintenance by camp owners has created a road-like appearance, though a road foundation was never engineered. Brush is trimmed back from the road. There is no indication of ATV use. Apx 400 ft of the common section was graveled recently at a cost of $600, which was shared among the lot owners. (per resident Jean Heath)

Shorey Brook
Serves 5 lots. Entire road has a right of way on privately owned lot. Apx ¾ mile long. No indication of road foundation. Gravel worn down to the dirt in many places especially on the turns. Road curves and has gentle hills. There are a number of long and low wet spots with indications of ATV use/wheel marks/ruts. Tree branches are in or approaching the power lines in many places. There is no indication that brush cutting has been performed. Anecdotal and unconfirmed road “history” provided by Phil White, Beddington First Selectman, that Shorey Brook was created through its use as a “skidder” path: the dragging of felled trees between the river and the main road (now East Beddington Lake Road).

Eagles Cove
Per the map, this road crosses through every lot that it serves. The road is maintained by BLERMA and serves 23 lots, including unmaintained end. Road appears to have foundation, drainage. Tree branches are in or approaching the power lines in a few places.

Tucker Lane
Serves 6 lots. Road has a right of way crossing privately owned lots. Steep hill is prone to wash out and is maintained personally (i.e., not contracted out) by some of the lot owners.

Eagle’s Cove Unmaintained End
Serves 8 lots. Brush is close to road. Trees have grown/or are close to power lines.

11:00 am Meeting adjourned.

Respectfully submitted.
