Minutes to the April 17, 2007 Board Meeting

Beddington Lake East Homeowners Association
Minutes to the April 17, 2007 Board Meeting

Present:
Peter Aten, President; Marlene Sullivan, Vice-President; Brian Govang, Treasurer; Bob LaMarche, Secretary

Treasurer's Report:
Brian reported that the Association’s finances continue to be in good shape going into Spring road maintenance, with funds of more than $10,000 in the Association account.

Planned Road Maintenance:

Brian reported that the main road seems to be in surprisingly good shape at this point in the year. He met with Herb Jordan the week prior to the meeting to discuss the following road maintenance issues.

  1. The Board approved spending $1,300 for grading, plus the cost of any needed gravel fill, for routine repair of road erosion. Total cost will be approximately $1,500. This includes the main road, plus the stretch of Eagle Cove Road that has always been included in routine road maintenance.
  2. It was recommended that a culvert be installed in the vicinity of the entry to lot 49E to permanently repair a recurring, hazardous erosion spot. The Board authorized $750 to $1,000 to have Herb do this work.
  3. Trimming of brush along the main road was discussed. It was determined that it is not necessary this year, but will be performed next year if needed.
  4. Grading and adding gravel fill to a stretch of Eagle Cove Lane past the bend was discussed but a decision on action was tabled in order to allow the Board to monitor the area this year to see if such repair is really necessary.

Road repairs will be completed by the end of May, pending weather setbacks.

Annual Meeting:
Preliminary discussions of setting a date for the Association’s annual meeting were held. Notice of a date will be sent to Association members as soon as it is determined.

Board Recruitment:
It was emphasized again that there is a real need to recruit new members to the Board, while maintaining some continuity by having one or two current members continue for another term. Board members will continue to contact friends in the Association in efforts to recruit a few individuals to join. All members of the Board stressed how important it is to have other property owners become involved in the future operation of the Association and to establish a succession of Board officers.

Next Board Meeting: The next meeting will be held on May 22 at 7:00 pm.
