What is it?

These ghostly "flowers" have been growing in our woods, poking through the pine needles in very shady areas. Can any of you tell us what they are? Post the answer under "comments" below if you know!

From Jake:

My family owns the camp at 64E.
I submitted a comment weeks ago about the "ghostly mushroom type thing" but it hasn't been posted. Anyway the answer is, is that its common name is "Indian Pipe".

Hope this helps and hopefully I'll be able to comment on other things as well.
